Pattaya is located on the East of Bangkok. You can get there by bus at Ekkamai Bus station (BTS Ekkamai Station) . It took about 1 hr. to get there. There are a lot of Hotels and Guest house to choose. Getting around Pattaya is very convenient, you can take Pattaya bus for free (But you may have to wait for a while for it), another better way is to take Song Taew which is cheap and is always waiting for you everywhere in Pattaya.
At night, there are a lot of shops by the road along the beach and a lot of beer bars for you to hang out. Another new venue is a show about Thailand history and Culture called "Alangkarn" which is a new extravaganza show in Pattaya.
